During the month of April, this year, during the beginning of Covid-19 crisis, our business psychologists and consultants created a short pulse survey to understand more about what measures are companies taking under this new context we all experience in order to keep the business running and their people safe.
Therefore, we have deployed the survey to 250 companies from different industries. 53% of respondent companies have more than 500 employees.
We have invited HR professionals to respond to our questions.
The responses indicated the following:
- 72% indicated that more than 50% of the workforce moved to home office environment
- Video communication, intensified internal interaction with employees, and virtualization of HR activities, were the most common actions from HR departments
- Over 70% of organizations have so far not responded by immediate downsizing, rather using vacation time to keep their people
- 60% of organizations have frozen recruitment
- 66% have either postponed or canceled training activities
- One of the most important take-away: besides internal communication and employee retention, development of the current leadership pool seems to be the most important strategical area for recovery of this pandemic.
